“Hoca’nin cok yaslandigi gunlerden bir gun Azrail gelip kapisina dayanmis. Niyeti Hoca’nin canini almak. Uc rekat, bes rekat, on rekat... derken boylece uzayip gidiyormus Hoca’nin namazi. Aradan hayli zaman gecmis artik iyiden iyiye sabirsizlanan Azrail dayanamayip Allah’in huzuruna cikip Hoca’dan dert yanmis. ”

“One day when the Hoca was very old, the angel o f death, Azrael, came to his door with the intention of carrying away the Hoca’s soul. Realising that the situation was serious, the Hoca declared, ‘See here, Azrael, even hum an beings g ra n t their victim s one last wish. Are y o u going to begrudge me?’ Azrael agreed and asked what the Hoca’s last wish was. He replied that he wanted to say his prayers one last time, an d bent over his prayer mg. But he went on praying and praying, with no sign of stopping. Finally Azrael lost patience and went back to heaven, where he complained to God about the Hoca. ‘This mortal asked permission to pray one last time, but he has not stopped yet. ’ At that God said, ‘Leave the poor fellow alone. Let him pray as much as he pleases. ’ ”

Cay Kitabi

"Those of us who know not the secret of properly regulating our own existence on this tumultuous sea of foolish troubles we call life are constantly in a state of misery while vainly trying to appear happy and contented. We stagger in the attempt to keep our moral equilibrium and see forerunners of the tempest in every cloud that floats on the horizon."

“As anyone who has ever been around a cat for any length of time well knows, cats have enormous patience with the limitations of the human mind. They realize that, whether they like it or not, they are simply going to have to put up with what to them are excruciatingly slow mental processes, that we humans have embarrassingly low I.Q.'s, and that probably because of these defects, we have an infuriating inability to understand, let alone follow, even the simplest and most explicit of directions.”

Turk gazeteci ve roman, hikaye ve oyun yazari Suleyman Tarik Bugra'nin dogum yildonumu (2 Eylul 1918)
"On binlerce koyun, binlerce okuz, inek, at ve onbinlerce insan! […] Derya gibi irmaklar, kari eksilmeyen doruklar, golge gormemis coller, ucsuz bucaksiz ovalar gecilmisti. Nice kizlar, nice oglanlar bu goc boyunca serpilmis, erginlesmis, evlenip ana, baba olmustu."
