Amerikali yazar ve gazeteci John Richard Hersey'in dogum yildonumu (17 Haziran 1914)
"Herkes gozleri acik vaziyette sirt ustu kimildamadan yattigi icin kimin olu kimin canli oldugunu ayirt etmek kolay degildi. Yaralilar sessizdi, kimse aglamiyordu, cok cok azi canlari yandigi icin ciglik atiyordu. Hic kimse sikayet etmiyordu, cocuklar bile aglamiyordu. Hatta neredeyse konusan kimse yoktu."
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....1MgrYMyF0L.jpg
"It was very crowded, and to distinguish the living from the dead was not easy, for most of the people lay still, with their eyes open. To Father Kleinsorge, an Occidental, the silence in the grove by the river, where hundreds of gruesomely wounded suffered together, was one of the most dreadful and awesome phenomena of his whole experience. The hurt ones were quiet; no one wept, much less screamed in pain; no one complained; none of the many who died did so noisily; not even the children cried; very few people even spoke."
"Tam yuzunu pencerenin aksi istikametine cevirmisti ki, odanin ici insani kor eden bir isikla doldu. Korkudan donakalmisti. Her sey yere devrildi. Odanin tavani asagi indi. Hepsinden once, arkadaki kitapliklar one savrulup iclerindeki kitaplar dokulunce Bayan Sasaki yere yikildi, sol bacagi kivrilip korkunc bir sekilde altinda kalarak kirildi. Iste o anda, teneke fabrikasinda, atom caginin ilk saniyesinde, bir insan KITAPLARIN altinda kalarak ezildi."

"The room was filled with a blinding light. She was paralysed by fear, fixed still in her chair for a long moment. Everything fell, and Miss Sasaki lost consciousness. The ceiling dropped suddenly and the wooden floor above collapsed in splinters and the people up there came down and the roof above them gave way; but principally and first of all, the bookcases right behind her swooped forward and the contents threw her down, with her left leg horribly twisted and breaking underneath her. There, in the tin factory, in the first moment of the atomic age, a human being was crushed by BOOKS."

Bouche muette
Les lampes sont allumées
Il n’y a plus qu’un nom
Que l’on a oublié
La porte se serait ouverte
Et je n’oserais pas entrer
Tout ce qui se passe derrière
On parle Et je peux écouter
Mon sort était en jeu

Can bombos
Dil yok kuslarda
Her seyin uyudugu yuvada
Saat dokuz
Kipirti yok toprakta
Gogus geciriyor sanki biri
Gulumsuyor dersiniz agaclar

“Rakip siyasi kurumlar arasinda yapilan secim gibi, rakip paradigmalar arasindaki de aslinda birbirine tamamen zit toplumsal yasam tarzlari arasinda yapilacak bir tercihtir. Boyle oldugu icin de, soz konusu tercih yalnizca olagan bilime ozgh deger yargilari tarafindan belirlenemez. Cunku bu degerler zaten uzerinde mucadele yapilan paradigmaya baglidir. Paradigmalar, paradigma secimi uzerine bir tartismaya girdikleri zaman, ister istemez dongusel bir rol oynarlar. Her kesim, kendi paradigmasini savunmak icin gene kendi paradigmasini kullanmak durumundadir.” Bilimsel Devrimlerin Yapisi

“Like the choice between competing political institutions, that between competing paradigms proves to be a choice between incompatible modes of community life. Because it has that character, the choice is not and cannot be determined merely by the evaluative procedures characteristic of normal science, for these depend in part upon a particular paradigm, and that paradigm is at issue. When paradigms enter, as they must, into a debate about paradigm choice, their role is necessarily circular. Each group uses its own paradigm to argue in that paradigm’s defense.”

“Kral Hitler’in SS veya Gesatapo orgutunun guvenlik operasyonlarina benzer sekilde, gizli talimatlarla emirlerini tum ulkeye yayinladi.

“In a security operation worthy of the SS or Gestapo, the king issued sealed and secret orders to his seneschals throughout the country. These orders were to be opened everywhere simultaneously and implemented at once. At dawn on Friday, October 13th, 1307, all Templars in France were to be seized and placed under arrest by the king's men, their preceptories placed under royal sequestration, their goods confiscated.”

“In 1209 an army of some 30,000 knights and foot-soldiers from Northern Europe descended like a whirlwind on the Languedoc the mountainous north-eastern foothills of the Pyrenees in what is now southern France. In the ensuing war the whole territory was ravaged, crops were destroyed, towns and cities were razed, a whole population was put to the sword. This extermination occurred on so vast, so terrible a scale that it may well constitute the first case of “genocide’ in modern European history. In the town of Beziers alone, for example, at least 15,000 men, women and children were slaughtered wholesale many of them in the sanctuary of the church itself. When an officer inquired of the pope’s representative how he might distinguish heretics from true believers, the reply was, ‘Kill them all. God will recognise His own.’ ”

“No one, he answered, expected that the boy either would or could know all that he said he knew; but the world was full of compromises; and there was hardly any affirmation which would bear being interpreted literally. Human language was too gross a vehicle of thought— thought being incapable of absolute translation. He added, that as there can be no translation from one language into another which shall not scant the meaning somewhat, or enlarge upon it, so there is no language which can render thought without a jarring and a harshness somewhere.”

“The point, includes in reality and as if by compensation a mystery of dilation, precisely as the Absolute by definition includes Infinitude; perfect concentration coincides with an “expansion of the breast” (inshirāh), whence the name dhikr al-sadr (“invocation by the breast”) that is sometimes given to the dance of the dervishes. This dance pertains, like sexual life, to a magic that is at once vital, existential, and sacramental; it symbolically transfers the finite into the Infinite or the “I” into the Self in a manner that is virtual and yet at the same time effective on its psychological plane.”

Ama oylesine bir ses gelir ki daglardan

Urkerek cekilir sessizlik,

Te repito que descubrí el silencio
**uella lenta tarde de tu nombre mordido,
carbonizado y vivo

Yillar boyunca biriken yorgunluk istah birakmazdi. Yemek yiyebilmek icin, coklari icki icerler, midelerini kavurucu alkolle uyarirlardi.
Aksam olunca, sokaklarda tembel tembel dolasilirdi. Lastik cizmesi olan, kuru havada bile cizmesini giyerdi; semsiyesi olan, hava gunesli bile olsa, semsiyesini alirdi.
Birbirleriyle karsilasinca fabrikadan makinelerden soz ederler, ustabasilara verip veristirirlerdi. Sozler, dusunceler, hep calismayla ilgili konulari kapsardi. Kimileri sakatlanir, arada sirada olenler olurdu.” Ana

“In the evening, when the sun was setting, and red rays languidly glimmered upon the windows of the houses, the factory ejected its people like burned-out ashes, and again they walked through the streets, with black, smoke-covered faces, radiating the sticky odor of machine oil, and showing the gleam of hungry teeth. But now there was animation in their voices, and even gladness. The servitude of hard toil was over for the day. Supper awaited them at home, and respite. The day was swallowed up by the factory; the machine sucked out of men’s muscles as much vigor as it needed. The day was blotted out from life, not a trace of it left. Man made an other imperceptible step toward his grave; but he saw close before him the delights of rest, the joys of the odorous tavern, and he was satisfied.
On holidays the workers slept until about ten o’clock. Then the staid and married people dressed themselves in their best clothes and, after duly scolding the young folks for their in- difference to church, went to hear mass. When they returned from church, they ate pirogs, the Russian national pastry, and again lay down to sleep until the evening. The accumulated exhaustion of years had robbed them of their appetites, and to be able to eat they drank, long and deep, goading on their feeble stomachs with the biting, burning lash of vodka.”
In the evening they amused themselves idly on the street; and those who had overshoes put them on, even if it was dry, and those who had umbrellas carried them, even if the sun was shining.
Meeting one another they spoke about the factory and the machines, had their fling against their foreman, conversed and thought only of matters closely and manifestly connected with their work. Only rarely, and then but faintly, did solitary sparks of impotent thought glimmer in the wearisome monotony of their talk. Returning home they quarreled with their wives, and often beat them, unsparing of their fists. The young people sat in the taverns, or enjoyed evening parties at one another’s houses, played the accordion, sang vulgar songs devoid of beauty, danced, talked ribaldry, and drank. Exhausted with toil, men drank swiftly, and in every heart there awoke and grew an incom- prehensible, sickly irritation. It demanded an outlet. Clutching tenaciously at every pretext for unloading themselves of this disquieting sensation, they fell on one another for mere trifles, with the spiteful ferocity of beasts, breaking into bloody quarrels which sometimes ended in serious injury and on rare occasions even in murder.”

Searching Mt. Athos in Greece, Paris, San Salvador, New York, and New Orleans, she discovers crimes at the highest levels of the Catholic hierarchy, rocks the Church to its foundations, and leads a Pentecostal renewal of faith that heals the millennium-long schism between Roman and Greek Catholicism and gives birth to a new Catholic Church."

Bilmiyorum, nerede yuva yaptiklarini,
nerede barisi bulduklarini.
Ben onlar gibiyim
surekli ucmakta havada.
Yasami siyirip geciyorum
onlar gibi suda yiyecek bulmak icin.
Belki onlar gibi ben de barisi seviyorum,
denizdeki o sonsuz olani,
ne ki, benim yazgim yasamak,
firtinada cakip cakip sonen simsekler gibi.
Uctun, guvercin gibi
Kacip kayboldun, oraya,
doguya dogru.
Seni goren yerler bende kaldi
Ve buluslarimizin saatleri.
Issiz saatler,
bana bir gomut gibi gelen yerler
onlarin nobetcisiyim.

Volata sei, fuggita
Ore deserte,
luoghi per me divenuti un sepolcro
a cui faccio la guardia.
