The average retail price of electricity for residential customers in the United States was 13.2 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour. Households are charged far more than the commercial and industrial sector, which tend to be the bigger consumers. Between 2019 and 2020, households saw their electricity bill increase by an average of 19 cents per kilowatt hour. Meanwhile, industrial clients paid 15 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour less than in 2019.
