Naturalizm akimininin temsilcisi Fransiz yazar Alphonse Daudet’nin dogum yildonumu (13 Aralik 1840)
“Kuzey ruzgarinin ya da yildizin çok siddetli esmedigi zamanlarda, gelip, deniz kenarindaki iki kayanin arasinda, martilarin, karatavuklarin, kirlangiclarin ortasinda oturur ve denizi seyretmenin verdigi saskinlik ve tatli bitkinlik icinde orada neredeyse butun gun kalirdim. Bu guzel ruh sarhoslugunu bilirsiniz, degil mi? Insan dusunmuyor, hayal kurmuyor. Butun benliginiz sizden kaciyor, ucuyor, dagilip gidiyor. Orada, denize dogru dalan marti, guneste iki dalga arasinda yuzen kopuk parcasi, uzaklasan su geminin beyaz dumani, kirmizi yelkenli su kucuk mercan gemisi, su su kabarcigi, su sis yumagi, her sey olursunuz, ama kendiniz haric...”
“When the mistral or tramontana didn't blow too hard, I used to settle down between two rocks, down by the sea amongst the gulls, blackbirds, and swallows, and stayed there nearly all day in that state between stupor and despondency which comes from contemplating the sea. Have you ever experienced that sweet intoxication of the soul? You don't think; you don't even dream; your whole being escapes, flies away, expands outwards. You are one with the diving seagull, the light spray across the wave tops, the white smoke of the ship disappearing over the horizon, the tiny red sailed boat, here and there a pearl of water, a patch of mist, anything not yourself…”
“Eger kirlarda gecelemisseniz, herkesin uyudugu vakitlerde, issizligin ve sessizligin arasindan gizemli bir dunyanin uyandigini bilirsiniz. Sular iyice duru bir sesle cagildar, gollerde kucuk alevler pirildar, daglarin butun golgeleri rahatca gezinmeye baslar; dallarin uzadigini, otlarin yeserdigini duyar gibi olursunuz.” Degirmenimden Mektuplar
“If you have ever passed the night in the open under the stars, you will know that while we are sleeping a mysterious world awakens in the solitude and in the silence. Then the streams sing even more clearly, and on their pools dance little lights like flames and go as they will, and the air is filled with faint rustlings, imperceptible sounds, as if one were hearing the branches burgeoning and the grass growing.“
