Amerikali amiral ve kutup kasifi Richard Evelyn Byrd'in dogum yildonumu (25 Ekim 1888)
Hosteslerden bir tanesi; 'Korkacak birsey yok Amiral, Ustad´in huzuruna kabul edileceksiniz...' " diyor.

"From this point I write all the following events here from memory. It defies the imagination and would seem all but madness if it had not happened. The radioman and I are taken from the aircraft and we are received in a most cordial manner. We were then boarded on a small platform-like conveyance with no wheels! It moves us toward the glowing city with great swiftness. As we approach, the city seems to be made of a crystal material. Soon we arrive at a large building that is a type I have never seen before. It appears to be right out of the design board of Frank Lloyd Wright, or perhaps more correctly, out of a Buck Rogers setting!! We are given some type of warm beverage which tasted like nothing I have ever savored before. It is delicious. After about ten minutes, two of our wondrous appearing hosts come to our quarters and announce that I am to accompany them. I have no choice but to comply. I leave my radioman behind and we walk a short distance and enter into what seems to be an elevator. We descend downward for some moments, the machine stops, and the door lifts silently upward! We then proceed down a long hallway that is lit by a rose-colored light that seems to be emanating from the very walls themselves! One of the beings motions for us to stop before a great door. Over the door is an inscription that I cannot read. The great door slides noiselessly open and I am beckoned to enter. One of my hosts speaks. 'Have no fear, Admiral, you are to have an audience with the Master...'

Turk halk ozani (Asik) Veysel Satiroglu'nun dogum yildonumu (25 Ekim 1894)
Guzelligin on para etmez
Bu bendeki ask olmasa
Eglenecek yer bulaman
Gonlumdeki kosk olmasa.
Kim okurdu kim yazardi
Bu dugumu kim cozerdi
Koyun kurt ile gezerdi
Fikir baska bask'olmasa.
Guzel yuzun gorulmezdi
Bu ask bende dirilmezdi
Gule kiymet verilmezdi
Asik ve masuk olmasa.
Senden aldim bu feryadi
Bu imis dunyanin tadi
Anilmazdi Veysel adi
O sana asik olmasa.

Your beauty wouldn't worth a dime
If I didn't have this love
You wouldn't find a place to have fun
If it wasn't for my welcoming heart
Who would read and who would write
Who would untie this knot
Sheep would wander with the wolf
If the idea wouldn't be different
Your beautiful face wouldn't be seen
This love wouldn't rise in me
The rose wouldn't be valued
If there weren't a lover and the beloved
I got this shriek from you
That was the flavor of the world
Nobody would call the name of Veysel
If he weren't in love with you

Amerikali sair ve akademisyen John Berryman’in dogum yildonumu (25 Ekim 1914)
Henry, zavalli Hemingway'e agliyordu
Hemingway umutsuzdu, ulasmisti sona,
Hemingway'in sonu,
Tasrada bir yemek odasinda gozyaslari,
daha evlenmemisti, yillar onceydi bu,
Tanri kor talihi daha gondermemisti ona.
Bizleri tufeklerden, babalarin intiharindan korusun Tanri,
Kimin babasi oldugunu dusunmen gerek
Kendini oldurmek istiyorsan
kotu ornektir insanin kendi katili olmasi
Canevinde merhametti gizleyerek,
sevginin son olumu, duygusunun son fiskirmalari.
Kapida bir kiz: "Aynasizlar baslamis dua etmeye"
Ama donelim yine Hemingway'e,
o kati yurekli, ustun yetenekli insana.
Merhamet et, cekme tetigi, babacigim,
yoksa omrun boyunca senin acini yasayacagim,
basladigini olduren ofken kiyacak bana.

Tears Henry shed for poor old Hemingway
Hemingway in despair, Hemingway at the end,
the end of Hemingway,
tears in a diningroom in Indiana
and that was years ago, before his marriage say,
God to him no worse luck send.
Save us from shotguns & fathers' suicides.
It all depends on who you're the father of
if you want to kill yourself-
a bad example, murder of oneself,
the final death, in a paroxysm, of love
for which good mercy hides?
A girl at the door: 'A few coppers pray'
But to return, to return to Hemingway
that cruel & gifted man.
Mercy! my father; do not pull the trigger
or all my life I'll suffer from your anger
killing what you began.

Isvicre dogumlu Arjantinli, modernist donem sairlerinden Alfonsina Storni Martignoni'nin olum yildonumu (25 Ekim 1939)
Bu gece gel. Dunya var
Kalbimin uzerinde... yasam patliyor...
Bu gece gel, ey sevgili, korkuyorum
Ruhumdan.
Aglayamam! Bana ellerini ver
Goreceksin ki ruh
Usulca kayiyor; bak nasil dusuyor ruh
Bir gozyasina...

Ven esta noche, amado;
tengo el mundo sobre mi corazón...
la vida estalla...
Ven esta noche, amado;
tengo miedo de mi alma.
¡Oh, no puedo llorar!
Dame tus manos
y verás cómo el alma resbala tranquilamente,
cómo el alma cae en una lágrima...

Amerikali roman yazari Anne Tyler’in dogum gunu (25 Ekim 1941)

Mavi Makara

"It was a beautiful, breezy, yellow-and-green afternoon." This is how Abby Whitshank always begins the story of how she fell in love with Red that day in July 1959. The Whitshanks are one of those families that radiate togetherness: an indefinable, enviable kind of specialness. But they are also like all families, in that the stories they tell themselves reveal only part of the picture. Abby and Red and their four grown children have accumulated not only tender moments, laughter, and celebrations, but also jealousies, disappointments, and carefully guarded secrets. from Red's father and mother, newly-arrived in Baltimore in the 1920s, to Abby and Red's grandchildren carrying the family legacy boisterously into the twenty-first century, here are four generations of Whitshanks, their lives unfolding in and around the sprawling, lovingly worn Baltimore house that has always been their anchor.”
