US Treasury Secretary Jeannette Yellen doubts the US will be able to pay all of its bills by June 15, writes Bloomberg.
The head of the Ministry of Finance believes that the chances of reaching mid-June are "rather low."
At the same time, Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy requires Biden to be "reasonable" in relation to debt.
According to Bloomberg, McCarthy said he expected to talk to the president soon about negotiations to prevent a catastrophic default on US debt, but signaled that the talks had stalled.
Republican Representative Patrick McHenry says he is pessimistic about the status of the talks.
