Of course. I've been using the emergency services as a good measure of the essentials.
I had real cause to call an ambulance not long ago that was then not needed. I live alone, and thought I might lose conciousness so put a call in and then recovered. The wait at 8pm on a Wednesday in the lower North of the country, I was told at least 90 minutes.
Police have lost control of crime due to funding. They can only really react to petty crimes on the streets, domestic callouts and people speeding. They don't even have much effectiveness at that, due to being threatened all the time. People deal drugs in the streets (in many cases safely, I'm all for it but it's still illegal) totally unconcerned for police, shops on the biggest shopping streets in the UK are openly laundering money. There's no police presence anywhere that's meaningful, it's just boomers who want escooters "dealt with" that seem to think they're even there.
Finaly. The fire brigades. They have been put to the test recently and an entire village burned down, as well as numerous wildfires that would be more controllable with better infrastructure.
Each individual service is crying out for it's own improvement just falling on deaf ears.
People simply won't listen to the Government about ANYTHING anymore. Brexit, Covid-19 and then Boris Johnson's demise has left an air of apathy across everything. 40c the other week, people simply wouldn't listen to anyone and off to the beach they all went.
Our energy is going to suck whatever the pandemic didn't out of so many bank accounts, so fast it's unreal. By Christmas, millions of people who had plenty of savings at the start of this year will be at £0. This will effect a wealth level higher than normal, with University educated families with children, plans, jobs etc finding themselves in impossible to pay positions. It will soak up retirement funds, savings, mortgage deposits...... That's not even talking about the fact that in 2020, there was a huge housing rush which saw people take fixed rate mortgages which will run out soon. The interest rates are going up, alongside everything else.
Meanwhile, we have high employment. I was looking in April and saw an abnormal amount of "Trainee Recruitment Specialist" jobs with great starting salaries, benefits etc. Seemed too good to be true. Few months later the industry reports that it's struggling to meet contracts, so it's clearly over hiring in panic to meet demand, but it can't because everyone works 3 jobs aleady.
Right now, everyone is playing a big game of shoot out in the old west. British people will gladly see their next door neighbor go down if it means they won't, but they will wait until the last moment to see what's going on before helping. That's the only thing stopping concern turn into panic, and then riots when it gets cold. When it actually starts effecting people
The Government is even more callous, they simply refuse to acknowledge the issue even exists in some cases, which means they're in on it too.
We are simply put, done for. I don't think there will even be a general election in a few years, the system will bust long before that if nothing seismic is done soon.
